Re: change the window?
the proper way to remove a rear window is to order a 3.5lb rock and throw it at the center of the window for easy removal. remove the window seal and take the truck down to a window installer and have them install the new seal and window.

Re: change the window?
Yeah. I did it once myself. Never gonna make that mistake again. I'll replace every panel on the body and the entire cab floor, rebuild the engine and redo the interior, but I will never bother installing another windshield or rear window myself again. Not worth the time. Not worth the time to save/reuse the weatherstrip either. IIRC, it was about $40 for the new weatherstrip when I ordered it from Classic Trucks to replace my rear window, and took me about 4 hours to get the ****er in there. I called up a local tire/glass joint here for a quote on a new windshield and weatherstrip, and they came to my house way out in the boonies to do it for $200 cash. That was new glass, weatherstrip, and installation (about 30 minutes). I'll never make the mistake of doing it myself again.

why did it take you so long? i did mine in about 20 min or less.
you need two people to do it and a suction cup. put the suction cup on the top corner of the window and have another person push on the top corner from the inside, do this the whole way across on the top and it should come out.
now to install it u need to get a rope long enough to go around the window but it needs to be small in diameter, put the seal on the window and use a lubricant i use soap and water in a spray bottle, then put the rope in the channel on the seal when it would go on the cab leave enough rope hanging out so you can pull on the rope, spary the cab with the soap and water set the window in the bottom of the openeing, push on the window where you will be pulling on the rope from the inside, again two people, the rope should pull the seal onto the lip on the cab

Re: change the window?
Back windows are easy I have had to do two in my truck (an axe went through the first one and my head through the second) One was the factory style and one was an aftermarket, the factory ones are muuuuuch easier. The aftermarket one in there now is junk.

1) Didn't use a suction cup. I was replacing the weatherstrip anyways so I didn't care about saving it.
2) Didn't use lubricant. Learned that trick after I had it in there.
3) Didn't know the rope trick. This is the first I've heard of it, but it sounds like a damn good idea.
4) It was my first time doing it and last time I've had to do it, so I've yet to perfect my technique.
Engines and suspensions are my thing, body and glass are not so fun for me.
