Re: The Microfiber Towel Review
Shawn, I can tell you the cheapy bundle MF's do seam good at first, but went to hell once you washed them. I had a couple and they feel pretty "hard" after a couple of washes vs. the good ones I washed at the same times.

Based on your choices of towels, I'm assuming that you've never tried "cheap" import towels (yeah, I know they are all imported, but I think you know what I mean). Seems many people here have used the MF towels that are sold by the bundle with good results, I'm wondering how they differ from say a $4.25 towel.

thanks for taking the time to write all the up !

While I did try the cheaper towels on paint, I like them much better for general purpose detailing (wheels, door jams, etc.)

I have purchased the bundle towels, and they just don't have the quality, plushness, life, etc. of other towels.

The difference between them all is quality, quality control/consistency, and customer service.

Re: The Microfiber Towel Review
I've been using the MF towels made by "MicroTex", they comes in a 8 pack for the 14"x14" size, and they also make the Full size Towels too. I found these to be pretty good, but only last about 5 washings, then you have to replace them. I've been using them on my Black GTO for over a year, and they leave NO swirls or anything else at all, and Black has to be the hardest color to keep clean. I swear by them, and won't use any other type of towel. After reading about the MF's in this thread, I might give them a try, and see how much different they are from the ones I have been using. My Silverado is Gray, so it's a very easy color to keep clean, and hides the dust easily, so I use the California Brush on it first before I wipe it down with the MF's. Thanks "ZaneO" for the "Heads Up" on the MF's...........

All of these towels will last FAR beyond 5 washings. I have some Pak Shak towels that are nearly 2 years old.

Hmmmm, I might have to try them out, when I'm done with the ones I have now, I'll have to buy some. And by the way, your cars look awesome, so does the rest of your vehicles. I see you're as obsess as I am about keeping a clean vehicle. As I'm sure everyone else here is. This is my first Pick Up, so I'm kind of new to modding it, but from the research I have been doing, it's no different than modding my GTO. Which I did a lot of work on, LS1edit, Kooks headers, Flowmaster Cat Back, .224/.224./.581/.581./ 113 LSA Cam, UD Pulley, TB Bypass, etc....I'll have to go to the Performance section and check out what everyone has done to their Truck. But I defiantly want to get some of those MF towels.......You can check out my GTO in the link in my signature....... Thanks ZaneO for the info.

Anyone try the ones from Costco? I saw that they were selling them in the tool section by the shop towels.

You get what you pay for......nothing is free.

Re: The Microfiber Towel Review
Just read the following in Zaino's website

"Q: Are Micro-Fiber products safe to use?

A: Zaino has been testing various Micro-Fiber products. Unfortunately, the jury is still out on them. Some of them are excellent and do not scratch. Others are terrible and definitely scratch. The quality control of these products from overseas, especially Korea, is not consistent, so you never know if they will be the same scratch-free quality. Even when using the same brand, we found the quality to be inconsistent. For now, we do not recommend using them. However, lab testing is ongoing, and we will post an update when we have more conclusive results.

NOTE: If you are already using microfiber towels, look carefully at your paint finish under flourescent light when you are using your towels. If you are not getting any swirls or fine scratches from the microfiber towels, then you are okay and can continue to use them. Remember it's better to be safe than swirly. "

I've found this to be true. In 2000, I bought some 3M microfiber towels and they worked great the first time I used them. By 4-5 washes (by hand, gentle soap, no rough stuff), they felt rough. Now, they still worked, but they were wearing out. Haven't really used many of them since. I stuck with the thick, cotton ones and have been doing fine.

I've been using these towels for a good while, and they have held up fine. I'm not noticing any unordinary marring from any of them (in the sun, under flourescents, etc.).

Why not just use a water blade and then a shop vac to blow out the drippy places?

I use that water blade, but you still need to wipe the vehicle down, the blade is ok for the "flat" areas, but in the places the blade can't get to the "towel" can, and what the towel can't get to, the "Blower" can. It's like a 3 step deal, but then you have the wheels, windows, mirrors etc.....Put it this way, it takes more than just one item to do the job right.........

If your vehicle is waxed/sealed, you can dry it 99% with a Toro 210 mph leaf blower.

Re: The Microfiber Towel Review
MF towels are the best thing since sliced bread!!..Had them for a while never used them, I really thought they were a bunch of hype!...OH how wrong I was!

I have alot of tree "crap" thats always falling all over my three white cars! The stuff doesn't wash off easy, sometimes I have to use cleaner wax to remove it....With just a wet MF wash mit, comes off with little effort, amazed me, how something so soft, could scrub so well!

MF towels are the only things I use now! There great around the house, windows, stove top, cabinets and cleaners are not needed with them! wife loves them!

Re: The Microfiber Towel Review
This thread hasn't been active in a while. I just bought some microfiber towels from Target.Zoom or Varoom, or some dumb name like that. I used them to wash the truck last night and they are junk. I had 2 of them together to equal the weight of the towels I bought at BJ's, of the same size.

Get then at Sam's. They work better than any other towels I've ever used. At $9 for 18 towels, can't beat it.
