What s the best thing to get rid of hard water spots on windows??

I have heard some people say that the dura-gloss glass cleaner is good and I have also heard that chrome polish will work. Anybody out there have any good ideas?

I use mothers quick detail spray, plus it helps as a rainx replacement

I use wax, it works pretty good.

If you have those hard water spots that won't wipe off try this. Go to the local market and get some Bon Ami cleanser. It comes in a goldish colored container. You'll find it near Ajax or Comet cleanser. It's supposed to be very gentle yet strong enough to get those spots off. Just follow the directions and viola! It works really well.

This is mostly for paint, but...IHG is a product made by 3M it stands Imperial Hand Glaze. It is used to fill in swirls. So that you get a swirl free surface.
You could also try a quick detailer to remove waterspots. Meguiar's makes a good one called Final Inspection, Eagle One Wet, Wipe & Shine or even the Mother's is a good choice. If the water spots are imbedded a clay bar works great.

Thanks alot guys, I am going to give some of these a try tommorrow. My truck just needs a little TLC, I keep it good and clean, but every now and then I have to spend a day doing the little stuff it takes to keep a nice looking truck. My truck would always stay clean if it wasn't an every day driver, but I can't afford another truck right now so this is what I have.

i heard that bigred. i wash my z almost every week cause the tires throw dirt all over the side of it and it's real frustratign to just wash it and then you go out and there's a puddle or road construction or something else that gets your truck all dirty agian.

I guess that is the bad part about a daily driver, you can get it all cleaned up and then store it up for a little while. The weather here has sucked for the past 2 weeks and I haven't even had a chance to do more than wash it off with a hose a couple of times. Every time I go to wash it off I see the clouds in the distance and I just walk back inside. Between all this bad weather, work, school, and spending time with my Girl friend I just haven't had time to show big red some much needed love

i heard that the clay bar works on water spots also, now i havent tried it yet but i heard it works, i might give it a try because i wouldnt mind putting one of those on my body also

This weekend I got rid of the spots on my windows. I tried hot vinegar, Bon Ami. None worked (in their defense the windows where in pretty bad shape) . The previous owner didn't know how to take care of the truck (I'm sure it had at least 5yrs of hard water spots on the windows). To make the story short I purchased a product called spot-x from the web. I started with a little CLR (from the store) on the windows, than used spot-x and let it dry (like wax). After drying I took my power waxer and used it on the windows to get the dry product out (I figuered I was planning on replacing them, so it did not matter if I messed them up). Now my side windows look better than the front windshield. I got to take sometime next weekend to do the front one;)

Thanks man, I have the same problem, the guy that owned the truck before me, didn't care too much about taking care of the truck a whole lot, and it showed when the motor blew about a month after I got it. But anyway there is about 14 years of spots on the windows, and I have been trying to get them off. I may look into getting some of this stuff, if it works as good as you say it does.

A good window cleaner (hell i just use windex)
A fine wire wool pad

Clean windows as best you can once over with window cleaner
Dry with soft cloth
rub with fine wool pad
clean with soft cloth

(repeat if necesarry)

Friggin spotless!!!

I always use stuff called bar keepers friend, comes in a gold container like comet.

Is that the same as Bon ami?

Hey,
What you need to do is get some Meguires cutting compound #2 for your windows. With a little elbow grease your windows will be perfect! And no, it will not scratch! FYI, if you are going to use something on your mirrors make sure it is the next level DOWN with the abrassive! I beleive it is #1...but double check.
