Re: Clay Bar?
Is a quick detailer or a spray lube required for claying or is a heavy dishsoap solution sufficient? After you've worked an area do you just wipe it dry? Is there any need to rinse afterwards before waxing?

You can use a dishsoap solution. I always buy the Meguiars' kit that comes with a microfiber, and Quick Detailer, so I use that.
I am no metrosexual. I don't pluck, I don't moisturize, and the only thing I wax is my car!

Re: Clay Bar?
You can use a soap/water mixture, however,it does tend to degrade the clay a little more than usual. Additionally, an appropriate quick detailer or dedicated clay lube like Luber will provide better lubrication for the clay to slide on.
I always recommend either rewashing or using a quick detailer to remove the clay residue after a full claying.

Could be oxidation. Clay may smooth out the surface. Where is the problem on the truck? is it just one panel/area/section that is dull?

Re: Clay Bar?
I have to ask after searching and not finding much, but has anyone used Griot's Garage products, I noticed they have a paint cleaning clay and speed shining kits and a bunch of other step process waxes/polishes and wondering if they are worth the money? Anyone ever use their products/good or bad results?

Re: Clay Bar?
their stuff is pretty expensive but very nice. If I had a ferrari (which there are some in their ads) I'd use it but to be honest I think that the Mothers California Gold clay bar kit at wallmart for $20 would work fine. I've used it a few times and was very happy with the results.
