Re: headlight haze
Wetsand with 1500, 2000, and go higher if you want/can... then buff it out with plastx and put some wax on them.

Products like windex that contain ammonia will damage plastics. I would advise against it.

+1 ... this is exactly what I did for my bmw ... looked brand new ... me personally I would remove the headlight housing and do it the right way... and when I use the plastix I would use a high speed buffing wheel if possible or a dremel with a buffing wheel, something of the sorts ... but that's just me and I'm kinda ocd about things. -J

Re: headlight haze
A good place for sandpaper that fine is a hobby shop...or even the hobby section of walmart might have it.

Also Michael's or a craft place might have it??

And FYI usually when you get down that far in grit it is no longer paper but a plastic film that the sand is on...just so your not looking for "paper"

Re: headlight haze
When you run your finger nails over the lenses, you can feel roughness. That is deterioration of the plastic itself. You can either use a chemical strip, like any of the specific for plastic polishes, but normally if it's too bad you need an abrasive.

Wet sanding with 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 is best. Go in one direction using a sanding block, then buff with plastic polish.

If you want to preserve the finish, buy some of the plastic overlay stuff cut to fit your lights.

Bottom line is you've got to get the deteriorated outer layer of plastic off.

Good luck!

Re: headlight haze
My auto paint guy said he hits them with 800 and then clear coats them. He swears they will never get dull again. I have the old sealed beams on mine so it was no problem, but my rear covers were very dull looking. He cleaned them and tinted them a bit then cleared over that. Looks great to me.

Re: headlight haze
Plexi glass polish works really good. I had real fadded headlights on my eclipse. A gentle 2000 grit wet sand, some plexi polish, and BAM! looked new. I wound up replacing them anyways because A buddy of mine wrecked his so I sold him mine and bought some projecters. you can get plexi glass polish at hardware stores. Lowes, home depot, etc..

Works wonders on scratched CDs and DVDs Too!!
