Painting bowtie black
I know there must be a few of you out there that have done this. I dont know if it matters on an OBS truck or a new one? But how did you get the bowtie off? I cant figure out how to get it off without breakin it. It doesnt seem like it really wants to come off. How did you do it?

Re: Painting bowtie black
Im guessing your talking about the bowtie in the front? I know the newest body style has a bowtie in the rear also. I know on my NBS the bowtie in the front just unbolts from inside the grille. If you think its stuck on just heat it up with a heat gun or a blowdryer and it should come off fairly easy.

Re: Painting bowtie black
The outer part of my bowtie fell off one day. So I cleaned all the old paint off the inside of it, painted it blue, and stuck it back on with model glue.

I like it better this way, because the paint's on the inside protected from weather and bugs and crap...it's never coming off.

Had my grille and bowtie painted recently. Mine is a 98 W/T so a gray grille was original. Wanted it to look a bit nicer. Painter hdded the Candy color to the bowtie.

Re: Painting bowtie black
open the hood, reach behind the grille and unbolt it..if it has a plastic cover take that off and the grille will be more exposed from under the hood, no need to take the grille all the way off
