Re: Oxidized Paint
TO remove oxidation, Poorboys Professional Polish is awesome. I had a guy stop by with a red (well, pink b/c of all the oxidation) and was looking for a product to remove the oxidation. I took some pro polish, did a small area, and he was blown away at the results. Its simply awesome at this task.
Now, if you want to do swirl removal, their ssr lineup is where you would want to start. Finish off with a product like clearkote carnauba moose wax, nattys paste wax, etc. For a more durable wax, collinite 476 or 845 is perfect. http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com...al-polish.html http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/camowax.html http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/nablpawax.html http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/47sudoco.html http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/845inwax.html |

Re: Oxidized Paint
If its just oxidation, an abrasive polish may not be necessary and can usually be cleaned up with a chemical cleaner such as the poorboys professional polish I referred to above.

I second this recommendation, usually a good paint cleaner is all you need. |

Re: Oxidized Paint
Definitely start with the chemical cleaner: this gets you to a surface where you can make the decision about further polishing/abrading to get more out of the finish.

Use a heavy rubbing compound and then wax to a shine.

Can that be applied by hand? I don't have any sort of polisher like a porter cable. |

Yes you can apply it by hand. It does not require a machine to apply.

Possible. Only problem is that there may be uv fading around the area which you just wont be able to fix. |

You could use a buffer on these areas and bring them up to the same finish as the rest of the truck, you will just have to work at it. |

not necessarily true, a good compound and buffer can blend faded paint into "hidden" paint with some effort. It is just not something the normal enthusiast can do. edit: 86burb beat me too it
