how to remove this glue strip for the trim (pic)
i am removing the trim today, and when i took off the first piece i had trouble getting this annoying glue strip off. what should i use? i used sap and tar remover, scrubbed hard, but still nothing. i dont want to use a hair dryer, that will take to long. i have a heat gun should i use that or will that be too hot for the paint?

Using the eraser wheel is the most effective and painless method.

I'd use a hatchet. no I think those eraser wheels are pretty expensive. I actually "rolled" mine off with my fingers..took a while and had to switch fingers alot but it was free

i did that for a little tiny panel and that took awhile. God forbid how long it would take to do the whole truck. i dont have that kind of time currently so i think i will go out and locate one of these eraser wheels, spend some extra dollars and get on with it. then use lighter fluid to scrub off the grime then use car polish to clear it up. i did this exactly to that little panel and it looks like it was just repainted.

sweet. yeah it took me a looong time. eraser wheel takes like 5 minutes, and you shouldn't have any "grime" left over.

Good luck finding a eraser wheel I searched everywhere for one with no luck. I ended up buying 3m adhesive remover and kept soaking it then took a plastic squeegee like the ones used for vinyl and tint and worked it off still sucked.

Re: how to remove this glue strip for the trim (pic)
I'd take it to a body shop..they shouldn't charge but maybe $15 it doesn't take long at all and they'll have the easy tools and the wheels don't damage clearcoat

get a drill, cordless preferbly, and let it do work, dont apply much pressure, then give it a nice wax job after and presto!

Dude, if all that is left is the strip of adhesive..soften it with a hair dryer and roll off with your fingers, kinda sucks and takes a while to roll off(not to heat up), but you wont have to worry about rippin' your clear coat off.

Re: how to remove this glue strip for the trim (pic)
use whats in hte above picture. go slow on speed until you get used to it. typically when using the wheel on a drill, aim it so the debris goes down toward the ground. keep it moving becuase it will build up heat quickly and burn the clear.

Dont worry though. its seriously not hard. just do as i said and you'll be fine. go slow until you get used to how it does its thing.

Re: how to remove this glue strip for the trim (pic)
i got it off yesterday. pull the trim right off, used the eraser, then took some lighter fluid and car polish to the left over grim and dirt and it looks amazing.
