Removing Paint Overspray (From Paint and Chrome Rims)
Long story short I got my truck back from the body shop for the 2nd time and now I'm dealing with paint overspray issues. Some areas have none others have a little. I've waxed the truck and gave it a good wash and it seemed to take care of some of the areas. It was also on my chrome bumper and rims. I used an s.o.s pad(steel wool) to clean off the front bumper, worked great. But I don't think taking it to my rims would be a good idea.

So basically, I'm wondering what the best way to remove the overspray from the paint would be? Would using a cutting cream and lightly buffing the paint work or would a clay bar be better? And for the rims would a s.o.s pad(steel wool) work alright as long as I keep the pad and rim wet or is there a better way to get the over spray off the rims.

I'm thinking it is clear coat over spray because on the chrome you can't really see it, just feel it. Same as the overspray on the paint.

Any and all ideas/suggestions would be great, asap, because I'm getting it cleaned up for a show this weekend.

Thanks!

Try using WD-40 on the rims. This stuff works great on all kinds of stuff. Just my 2cents

A claybar or clay magic will take care of it on the paint and even on the rims, but you'll have to buff/wax afterwards. I wouldn't touch a steel wool pad to an aftermarket wheel though. If the overspray is fresh enough it will come off with a good rubbing compound and a buffer.

Any tips on the clay bar for the rims? Just make sure surfaces are clean and go at it? Would a week still be considered fresh overspray? I did do a small spot with a cutting cream and "thought" I noticed a better result. I'll try a larger area tomorrow.
Thanks

Just keep the bar wet, it shouldn't mess it up. And yeah anything less than two weeks is fresh imo. So it should come off fairly easily.

Agree with above a clarbar should take it off no problems just keep it lubricated use some detailing spray nothing that will be harmful to the finish of the rims

Took the clay bar to my rims after work today. Worked great. I went a little crazy on the detailing stuff but oh well. I also did the hood and fenders but it looks like I may have to work at it a little more, still lots of over spray.
