I bought some thing like that Wal-Mart years ago, came in a plastic tube for storage. Really sucks up the water. For some one that doesn't take care of a chamois it's great.

You're referring to "The Absorber."

I've had it for 5 years and it still works like new. Its $8 at Wal-Mart.

Re: Anyone used a Shamwow?
Don't...they suck. My dad buys whatever he sees on tv and let me tell you when he got these we tested them, and it seemed as if the water actually moved away from the "shamwow junk." I still give him a hard time for it. I agree with the absorber, I have had one since probably high school (1996) and still use it today. If you slow down and watch the commercial for shamwow closely they change the amount of soda on the piece of carpet before he "sucks it" dry with the shamwow. Sorry for the long post, just don't want to see someone waste money on it.

Re: Anyone used a Shamwow?
^^ billy mays doesn't advertise shamwow though. ;p it's some douchebag who took his headset off for makeup, then felt compelled to put it back on. same principle still applies though.

i got a "tiger rag" (no idea if it's the same thing or what) from a flea market for a quarter a while back, and it works every time i wash my car.. *shrugs*

Re: Anyone used a Shamwow?
here's the easiest way to dry a car.

1. always always always keep your waxing schedule up to date. its good for lots of reasons and makes this process work.

2. after you're done washing, take the sprayer nozzle off the hose. turn the pressure down so its not shooting out too hard, just running out.

3. run the water all over each panel, one at a time, as if you're trying to cover the whole thing in a layer of water. avoid splashing on the panels you've already done.

4. when you've done the whole thing, you should only have a few specks of water left. break out the leaf blower. use it to chase the water off into a seam, or point the leaf blower directly over the spots, and they divide up smaller and smaller and smaller.

before you know it, your truck has dried spot-free and you never had to touch it.

Re: Anyone used a Shamwow?
Skip the Shamwow. Go to Wal-Mart and pick up 'The Absorber' and be happy. I've been using Absorbers for years now.
