Re: Best Buffer?

For the DIY'er: Porter Cable 7424 (I believe that's the correct model number.)

It's a DA machine polisher, so it does more than a "buffer", but it is safer than a rotary.

That's what I would suggest if you want something that is more than just a mechanical application and removal of wax.

Thanks, I think I'll probably be going with that porter cable, now to find it locally.

300$? Thats 200 with 2 compounds,wax,2 cutting pads, foam applicator, and a buffing towel? I also swear by poorboys as do alot of others, you will not be dissapointed

Buy the poorboys kit and have a happy smile when done, quality isnt cheap. If you want your paint to actually look good and lose the swirls pay for it, if you want more swirls and crappy looking paint for buy the 20$ autopart store special

Re: Best Buffer?

I have the Porter Cable 7424 and got it from Glimmer Glass. Best thing I could have bought for detailing. That ans a few pads and you'll be good. I use lakewood pads in orange, yellow, blue and white. The different colors are different stiffness. Combine that with some Poorboys SSR1 and SSr 2.5 and you can do everything but the worst of worst stuff.

Re: Best Buffer?

i would definatley go with a Porter Cable 7424 or a 7424XP. Its MUCH safer than a rotary polisher or any other garbage polisher from Harbor Freight. The next step up from there would probably be a Flex Polisher, but it will cost you a bit more!
i would recommend one of these kits to start off with.

http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-449-t...ction-kit.aspx

If you think the prices are too much. Read the Adam's Forum and discover the truth about car polishing and how easy it is! Adam's Polishes will not disappoint you what-so-ever. If you are in-fact unsatisfied with your products, Adam's backs up all of their products with a 110% Guarantee. Any unsatisfied customers are immediately taken care of by Adam's awesome customer service representatives. In-fact if you are truly not pleased with your products you can personally talk to Adam himself!

I am not a representative of Adam's what-so-ever, but I am a true believer of car detailing products that WORK!

Re: Best Buffer?

Adam's Stuff is really good. I was having a tough time deciding between that and Poorboy's. You can't go wrong with either one of those.

I wish the flex was in my budget when I bought my PC but I love what I have so it's all good. Make sure you use quality pads also. Cheap is bad when it comes to detailing.

yea the flex is really nice! but id rather stick with my 7424XP just because its smaller and easier to work with. and DEFINITELY use good pads (**Cough Cough Lake Country or Adam's**) youll regret buying cheap pads! even though the 7424 isnt supposed to burn your paint, cheap pads can!!

Re: Best Buffer?

Went and bought a variable speed rotary for 250 bucks, than the pads and polish, glaze, wax etc. Ran me over 300 for everything, but man it did a great job, I just need to get my bumpers on there and then post some pics.

why did you end up choosing the Rotary? any reasons? i think much safer results can come from the 7424. Rotarys are VERY tricky and can damage paint in a blink of the eye.
