There are no hand waxing, polishing methods that will premanently remove swirl marks. You're going to need, depending on how deep they are, either an agressive polish or a cutting compound used with a decent buffer.

To ensure a perfectly glass-like surface I would start with a mild cutting compound on the hood and door. Then follow that with a polish. Lastly, either seal or wax those areas to help protect them.

Be sure to use a good foam pad. Use a different pad for each different wax applied. 3M usually has a pretty good line of compounds and Mothers wax is half way decent stuff as well. 3M also has fine, medium, and heavy cut compounds as well as compounds for dark colored paints.

You could check out something like Optimum's line of polishes and compounds. One product will take out different grades of swirls and scratches depending on the pad and speed you use on your buffer. I've had pretty good luck with their polish and I use Edge pads (standard, not waffle).

Re: how do i get rid of swirl marks

I've had different luck with different brands, but for the most part I found that starting with a medium cutting compound and working up to a swirl remover such as meguiars swirl remover works the best. I'd definitely recommend a good foam pad though.

I've been using meguires "ultimate compound" with good results. It is hard to remove once it dries, and it dries fast, but works very well.

Go to a good auto body supply store and get a bottle of liquid
"Ebony". Thats the old school choice to remove swirl marks
after compounding your paint job.

The ultimate compound is gives very good results especially for the price. If you want to invest a little more I really like the meguiars 105 compound and the 205 polish.
