07 duramax
Im a tech at a chevy dealer and we got a little slow tonight so i went and grabed the key to a new 07 ext cab duramax with the new 6 speed automatic. Holy **** does that thing ****ing move. it feels just as fast if not faster as my buddys 05 with a edge tuner. I mean when the turbo spools up the back end just comes out of this thing. when i got on it i left like 20 ft long black marks i was very impressed. now i just wish i could afford one lol.

Gee, I hope that I get to be the guy that buys that truck.

I'm not passing judegment here, but it kills me every time I hear sales, techs, who ever, talk about how they thrash on cars that are on the lot or out on service test drives. I guess with demos, that's a different story and buyers beware.

But anyway, I know what you're saying about how much fun they are to drive. So I can appreciate what your saying. It just kills me that I got one of the duds. (mine's a relative dog)

So I guess I feel the same about driving my friend's trucks as you do about driving the ones at work. Drive on.

Re: 07 duramax
I wouldn't worry about it cause new vehicles come with a warranty. I know half the trucks that come through our dealership get rodded. The owner drives the demo xlr at 120+ all the time.

On the other hand, I do know that you should break them in like you're gonna drive them. My dad gets new pursuit cars every other year, and he can tell a difference if it's a 1500 mile car that has had an easy life so far, or if he gets it with 200 miles and starts rodding the hell out of it right away.

The few friends I have who can afford new trucks all had about 1000 miles on them when they got them. They wouldn't slip a tire with the 5.3's. By the time they put another 1000 miles of a heavy right foot on them, they will posi for a block.

I guess you can belive what you want, but after the crank is broken in, you can rod the piss out of them and have no problems.

Job Security
How bad can an Engine get with less than 1000 mi on them brand new? The techs as IH8Ford said, are driving brand new under warratnty trucks. If they break when they drive them, you dont want to give them to the general public in the first place. For most Techs, we dont do half the damage the average joe and sue do on their trucks, thats why we have job security. The average driver has no idea whats wrong when something isnt right...and most of the time, they drive that for a while. Its all for the better that we test drive and check things out, if nothing else, how are we supposed to know how they perform regularly? I dont think there's anything wrong, I'd definately be taking out the 07 Dmax anytime i could, just a little test drive. Get the feel for her.

Re: 07 duramax
Diesel takes a while to break in and I believe in breaking things in hard to a point. Now as for his "abusing" this new truck he wasn't even close. GM does QC on there trucks, way harder than that. You better get your 07s fast I hear there in going to be a power drop to meet emissions later in 07.
