6.5 brake problem?
Hey guys...

I have a 99 6.5 Classic body style long box crewcab. every couple of months my brakes go crazy! I will be driving along and i go to hit them. And the jump around like the abs is going crazy. make a loud buzzzz or screech!!!! and then finaly come to a stop. The pedal go's to the floor when doing this. and it wont stop until it has done its screech? Then they work great for a few more months? i have changed the brakes do to wear. and that never seemed to help? I can apply the on gravel and the abs works great. and also on pavement? but it only happens when you least expect it to?

Any help would be great..

Tom

Re: 6.5 brake problem?
I had a similiar prob when my power steering pump was on the way out.
The pump supplies the power for the steering AMD the hydroboost for the brake system.

Yours sounds more intermittent though. Could be as simple as low fluid level in the ps pump.

Check out the easy stuff 1st. Listen to the pump for any noise and maybe flush the system and re-fill with proper fluid. The ps fluid is very often neglected even by owners that check everything else often and maintain thier trucks well.

Just a thought, but ive been wrong before.
Good Luck.
