Programmers?
I have a 06 6.6 dura. The truck has 890 miles on it. Would it be to soon to put a programmer on it and what would be the best one to get for the money. I heard the edges are top right now but i could be wrong. Bye the way, im not looking for the whole kit just programmer. Thanx

I'd say Banks all the way...but I don't think they make a programmer for the '06's yet

Neither does Edge, yet

I don't know about you, but waiting to see what comes out in the wash with the programmers for the LBZ.

Seeing as GM and Allison are looking harder and harder for reasons to void warranties......
I'm also waiting unitl I get a bit more intelligence about the LBZ computer's ability to record "Traces" or "fingerprints" that a programmer was used and the truck's ability to record and report abuse through the tech2.

Re: Programmers?
Yeah i know that GM is voiding the warranites on programmers. I just figured if anything went wrong i would delete it from the computer. My buddy is the head mechanic at the dealer i bought it from and thats what he said would be the best way to go about it. Ill look up them other programmers thx.

Re: Programmers?
The Predator #1 or the PPE #2 would be my picks there are no big tunes out yet for the LBZ. Any tune you add you better have some tranny work like a Transgo JR. too or you burn it up and then you shouldn't run anything over an 80HP tune.

These views expressed on this post are not my own, but rather randomly generated computer gibberish and in no way should be used to judge the author's IQ or mental health.

When you use a tuner and decide to return the truck to stock, the tuner flashes the factory programming back onto your computer, right over anything that's there. The "Footprint" or "Ghost" is a lack of history and diagnostic data, because all of that data was overwritten when you returned it to stock. This is also why all the tuning companies tell you to return the truck to stock - if there's a factory software update, it is flashed onto the computer the same way, wiping out the existing file. If your performance tune is there when they do it, its wiped out and your tuner is locked since its memory is telling it that it's already programmed the truck but it isn't finding its own programming.

I can't imagine how they'd be able to prove that your lack of history is the result of a tuner being removed and not just a disconnected battery cable - They may know better, but knowing and proving are 2 different things (although if you put the stickers on your window that came w/ the tuner, that's generally a big hint)

no. There is NO way they can do that, and there is no way for them to see that the truck was chipped or had a program in it.

There is no data logging capability in the LBZ's ECM. Its a Bosch A35 ECM with a 32-bit Motorola PowerPC core processor. 1 meg of flash memory IIRC. No memory room to data log things.

just return it to stock each time you go to the dealer and they will never know. For what its worth, I didnt even bother to return my ECM back to stock when I went to the dealer (back when I was running PPE) and they didnt say anything.

Re: Programmers?
The only indications are little hints left behind that by no means will prove you've done anything, much less exactly what's been done. For tuners they look for a wiped history, and things like velcro strips stuck to the fuse box are indications of a module. Regardless, there's no solid proof.

Re: Programmers?
I just bought a Edge Juice with Attitude for my 02 LB7. Awesome. Only thing that concerns me is I figured it would change the Top Speed that governs out at 100MPH. It didd'nt or I don't know how to yet. It was all plug at play except for the EGT sensor which took an hour going as slow and careful as I could.

Juice w/attitude will not change or defeat top speed limiter.
As far as I know, no harness box will. You need a handheld programmer or EFI live to that.
