Re: Does towing hurt D-Max power?
firestrike, if you want to find out about diesels you really should check out dieselplace.com like the other guys mentioned. there is more information then you will ever want to know and tons of guys that are willing to give help and advice on anything from maintinance to towing/hauling and tons of modifying info. FSC is a great site and all but there arent really many of us that have diesels on here so finding info here is much more difficult. my advice would be to definetly get a diesel, you will love it and even with minor mods they can be really fast and still get great milage. and as far as milage goes, 100k is nothing on a diesel truck and towing 5th wheels and stuff like that is what theyre made for so as long as a trucks been maintained properly you shouldnt have any major problems.

Actually, I have been spending A LOT of time at dieselplace.com web site lately. I have learned so much in the past few days about diesels its nuts. My only problem is on forums, it seems like only people with problems will leave any sort of a message so I don't really have any idea of how large of a problem something really is. I couldn't begin to decide what percentage of LLY's overheat and what percentage of LB7's have injector issues. I just what to know what engine gives me a better chance of a great truck. It doesen't seem there is a solution for an overheater, but GM does warrenty injector's for 7 years, but only on 01 and 02. So it seems the 03's are kinda left out it the dust. ![]() 1997 Z71 | 6" BDS | 35x12.5 M/T Baja Claws | 15X10 Classic II | Flowmaster 40 Series | 5.7 Vortec | 4L60E | 3:73 Check out my Cardomain site for pics - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/1833894 Last edited by Firestrike87 : 09-12-2006 at 12:21 PM. |

Re: Does towing hurt D-Max power?
i say at 100k you are just breaking in your diesel, just make sure to have the injectors serviced, tranny flushed, and filters cleaned

X2 on the 100K, but there is no servicing for injectors, do not flush the tranny, and filters are to be replaced not cleaned. Firestrike IMO there is a good bit of misinformation in this thread. I made a post with a few tip on how to avoid bad LB7s/LLYs on here. Doing your own maintenance will save you a lot of $$ and there is nothing to it. ![]() These views expressed on this post are not my own, but rather randomly generated computer gibberish and in no way should be used to judge the author's IQ or mental health. |

LB7 (2001-2004) injectors have a 200,000 mile warrantee. Dont worry about the injectors. The LB7's are great engines. '05 Silver-a-doo LT, CC/SB

Re: Does towing hurt D-Max power?
firestrike, i hope i didnt give you the wrong idea, i wasnt meaning dont post over here and i agree with you about people only posting when theres problems but i was pretty much saying the same thing as dozerboy that there is a lot of misinformation in this thread and just by reading it it looks like the dmaxs are nothing but trouble with injectors failing and engines blowing up all the time (which totally isnt true) so to someone with little experience with diesels (which im in the same boat as you, ive only had mine for about 6 months so im still learning too) it might scare them away. so all in all i was just trying to make sure you saw more information then what was on here before you made your decision. ok, sorry about the long post and i hope some of that made sense. and again, get the DMAX, blow some smoke, and have fun blowing the doors off some ricers, trust me youll be soo glad you did.

I will keep posting over here for sure. By no means did you give me the wrong idea about diesels on this site, I just want to make sure I get the correct information. Something that I did find on the dieselplace.com site was that they have a place where you give them a vin number and they can give a complete list of info about that truck since day one. I will be able to see the complete history of the truck before I go ahead and purchase it, so I will definatly be using that. So for now I guess I will just keep reading and looking. ![]() 1997 Z71 | 6" BDS | 35x12.5 M/T Baja Claws | 15X10 Classic II | Flowmaster 40 Series | 5.7 Vortec | 4L60E | 3:73 Check out my Cardomain site for pics - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/1833894 |
