Re: 6.2/.6.5 Sm465??
the sm465 will bolt right up to either the 6.2 or 6.5 engine. the np205, 203 (full time), and np 208 will bolt up to that tranny depending on the tranny output housing and the t-case housing (slightly different bolt patterns throughout the years but you can get a new tranny output housing/shaft from advance adapters for certain, maybe even from your local dealership).

another t-case option (best gearing choices if your gonna be offroading alot) is the dana 300. contact lomax gears, they can sell you (or build for you) everything you would need for a dana 300 to easily survive a 6.2 or 6.5.

Re: 6.2/.6.5 Sm465??
im not 100 percent certain but i think since the mid- late 80s the sm465 has been the only manual tranny option for the diesel. anyone who has more info or links please confirm or deny.
<-Thanks Chuggs

Re: 6.2/.6.5 Sm465??
it was available before that. and there is another manual tranny that came behind the 6.2L.
sm465-granny low 1st gear at 6.55:1, 4 speed with top gear of 1:1, no overdrive.
something 833, cant remember the lettering before the 833. 4 speed manual, no granny gear, but had overdrive. not as strong as the sm465, but not bad.
both of these tranny's were available from the beginning of the 6.2L diesel in 1982, until the nv4500 took over in the early 90's (i believe 93 was the 1st year for the nv4500). the nv4500 is the only manual that came behind the 6.5L, though any of these tranny's will bolt to either motor.
its a work in progress. 6.5L turbodiesel 2 door yukon, bein built for offroad/daily driver.
