Newbie Questions
I finally got the truck I always wanted. CHevy 06 2500hd Diesel.

My questions:

Is it normal to have a slight hesitation when you first go to take of from a stop?

What is the best Fiberglass cap for the money?

THanks for your help.

Joe

Re: Newbie Questions
Mine is great off the line and becomes a monster when the turbo really spools up. No hesitation in peddle feel like a 1500HD I had.

I have a Snugtop that cost over $2000. Looks great and is solid as a rock. Even a cheapo will run $1500.

If your running 4.10 gears then yes. Oh, and I kind of like the Jason brand tops.

Isn't that just if it has an Allison?

Thought you could get different rear ratios as long as the truck was a standard?

no...if you have a duramax, your options for rear ends are 3.73, 3.73, or 3.73

Dang man, I love the power but I just can't understand this horrible fuel economy...
Drive it like I stole it? Why slow down?

huh? What engine did you order? LBZ? Is this a 2500HD? I thought there was no more manual tranny in the pickups from '06 on, everything was the allison? No manual on Chevrolet.com, or different ratios (unless you get into medium duty)

Re: Newbie Questions
I believe with the manual tranny you get the lower output D. I don't think the manual will hold the big power like the Allison, as odd as that sounds. It's kind of contradictory to the way it was always the manuals holding more power.

Sorry didn't mean to indicate that I got a manual. I ordered a LBZ w/ the Allison.
It was when we were going through the options on their computer that I saw a manual w/ 4.10 gear option.

Here in the '07 brochure it shows the manual w/ 4.10 under the 1500HD/2500HD/3500 spcifications. It doesn't say that its restricted to any setup.

But here in the All Options list that I got, it shows a GT5 code for 4.10 gears but no mention of a manual option? Maybe you can get 4.10s but not a manual after all. It lists the Automatic on the previous page and the Allison on this page but no manual.

Re: Newbie Questions
I just saw, that if I click the LLY box and not the LBZ, you can get the ZF6 tranny, but I still can't find the 4:10s. The 4:10s are even available in the gasser 3500s, but I don't think anything but 3:73s are offered with the Dmax.

Not true my buddy has the identicle truck to mine in a 6 spd manual 2006 but it has 3.73 gears. He also got a manual transfer case wich I didn't think they still had. If you are looking to an LS package you can't get a manual tranny but you can in the LT or WT.

yeah, did you read the post right above yours where I corrected myself?

I did read the post above mine but what I'm trying to tell you is he doesn't have an LLY he has an LBZ! I would be more than happy to scan the build manifest when I have a min to show you. If you want the real deal on ordering a truck go to a dealer and build one on GM's acual build network. It does differ from what you can do from your home PC. I found that out when I ordered my 2006.
