EGR valve clog-up
Anyone with a 6.6 LLY run into the EGR valve having problems? My buddies truck has 62,000 miles on it and he had to take his valve out and clean all the soot out of it.At 62,000 miles?

Re: EGR valve clog-up
i believe it is the LLY and/or LBZ having many problems with
the egr not operating correctly. best bet is to get and EGR blocker place and a Finger Stick to fool to computer and get no check engine light.

very very common problem. So much so that whenever our techs call into the center, they are told "replace EGR" without asking any questions. GM tech says its happening everywhere. I've seen some trucks come in with fewer miles.

Take the EGR out of the equation & you don't have to worry about it throwing codes when you put an exhaust on, either.

Whats an EGR blocker and finger stick? Also can these be put in and still pass emissions?

An EGR blocker's just like it sounds - a plate that blocks EGR flow. Finger stick modifies MAF signal to the ECM to fool it into thinking the EGR's still working.

Re: EGR valve clog-up
kennedy diesel website caries them. the set up is only $50.00
which is really inexpensive for the resutls you get. but if you live in a state that does vehicle inspections you will have to take it off before you get inspected.
