Hi i am very new to this website and to diesel trucks. I will soon be getting a 2007 silverado 2500 with the duramax. I know almost nothing about diesel performance so please help. A few questions i have are:
1- Will i eventually have problems running a programmer tuned to more than 50 hp 2- will a cat-back exhaust be enough to lower egt's 3- will 33/12.50 tires fit with keys and minor trimming 4- thinking about an s&b intake- any comments I plan on driving this truck for a long time without any problems so please any info will help. |

I wouldn't add any power stock trans there is a "shift kit" called transgo Jr. made by TTS converters that should let you run some extra power. I though there was like a 100* drop from a cat back, but maybe not? Wheel BS is key for 33s look for 5" or so H2 takeoffs are good replacements. There is nothing wrong with the stock intakes on the 06s I would leave it, but if you want an aftermarket s&b intakes would be my choice from what I have read. Joining DP would be wise secondary fuel and oil filters, pitman and idler arm braces, and tie rod sleeves are wise investments if your going to take your truck to the grave.

thanks again for the help, how long should i wait to but these mods on, by this i mean how many miles should the truck have before being totally broken in, and is it true that the allison can actually learn or reprogram itself to the newly added power?

Do them now if you want diesel take a good 10-15K to break-in. Yes so take it easy for a little while on the new power and let the tranny learn. If you can keep it on the 40 setting your tranny should last a while the best thing to do is keeping your foot out of it in above 4th gear and burnouts and boosted launches should be avoided with power added.
