Buying a new work truck, '93 K2500 with the 6.2L
I finally found a new work truck, a '93 K2500 with the naturally aspirated 6.2L. Does anyone have the 6.2L and have anything they would like to share - the good, the bad and the ugly?? This is my first diesel. I know they are anemic without a turbo, but if it's reliable and gets good mileage, I don't care.

I already see that I have to replace the fuel lines at the motor (rusty), and will probably change the injectors and glow plugs at the same time. Truck has 109,000 on it.

Thanks!

You should be fine with it. I believe that was the last year for the 6.2 as my '93 even has a 6.5td. All good engines if cared for properly.

excellent, reliable engine, but without a turbo it is slow. in a full size truck in stock form (and upgraded) your gonna get excellent fuel economy.

you should check the rest of the fuel lines, if there are any small cracks in the rubber (even if not leaking) go ahead and replace it.
also the injection pump (from my families experience) is that it usually lasts about 120-180k miles.
go to www.dieselplace.com and check out the 6.2 section, the guys there know more about those trucks than the designers do.
