Need some diesel help..........
My mom's BF has a 04 Dmax LLY, and for some reason when he puts it into any gear it acts like its missing/studdering. Now it only does it under load, when he drives it he has zero problems. What could this problem be?

Re: Need some diesel help..........
Check for leaks in the fuel line and change out Filter. It could be under normal driving he's ok, but really working it, its sucking in air from a hose leak or bad filter somewhere. Also, I believe these trucks had injector problems that he may want the dealer to check into, the warranty was extended for them. But that may be earlier years, not to sure on that. Also sometimes the Fuel Primer on the Filter base can go bad and get Air into the system.

i would check the fuel filter, injectors, and injector pump and regulator. the extended warr is 200,000 miles on injectors, but only for 2001 and 2002. 2003 and up still have the 100,000 warr on the motor with the $100 deduct.

change the fuel filter, check for leaks in the fuel system, then if it still persists have the injectors tested.

Re: Need some diesel help..........
Thanks alot guys, he had these problems before the replacement of his fuel filter, and he just changed it. He will be taking it in this week to get it looked at. Its just weird how he dosent have any problems other than when he has it in say "drive" at a stop, but when he starts moving there is no studdering and runs like a champ

Need to look at the injector wiring harness there is a chaffing problem on the 04s for sure IIRC.

I'm not that good with diesel motors... I got gas... From what I heard though I think it could be the injector too. Just a thought.

Re: Need some diesel help..........
LLY injectors rarely fail. 90% of LLY injectors are replaced because of a misdiagnosis.
