How rare of a color?
I might have the chance to buy an 01 2500HD, D-Max, AT and a new transfer case with 162K all highway for $17K. But the thing I like is that it's that burnt orange color. How many of them are their out there? Is it fairly rare and do you guys think it's a good deal?
99 GMC Sierra, Street Scene Speed Grille, 285 Pro Comp AT's, slight TB crank, Pro Dyno CAI, Corsa w/quad tips--'bout it so far! TRADED OFF!
2001 CC DMAX, 305/70R16 Grabber AT2's on Eagle Alloys, Quadzilla Race Tuner, Bully Dog 4" turbo back, 193K on original injectors and runs like a top!

You should be able to find a better deal with alot less miles. As far as the color goes, I myself don't recall seeing any of those around my area

Re: How rare of a color?
I forgot to mention that it's a CC and all it ever did was pull a boat driven by a 65 year old man. I've been seeing them go for about that or more on ebay with around that many miles lately. Anybody else know anything about that color?

That is a pretty rare color. Only seen 1 or 2 that color out of hundreds of the NBS trucks I've seen over the years around here...and I didn't even think they were stock colored

EDIT: I agree though, that price is kinda high compared to what you could find and the miles.

Re: How rare of a color?
Yeah, I agree on both fronts. Rare color but for that much $$$ I'd pass. Probalbly cheaper in the long run to find a nice clean truck with fewer miles and paint i.( If your really set on that color anyway)

Yeah, and with all the research I've done of buying one in that body style, and my dad having one a few years ago, I still think it's kinda high

Well, it does also depend on your location. I've seen quite a few with less then 200K under 17...but not below 13. They sell quick as hell around here too...but you won't find an 03+ that cheap and rarely find an 02 that cheap.

This one's an '03 with far less miles for 5k more.

Re: How rare of a color?
But it's not a CC. I live in SW WI and the farmers around here snap these up like they are gold, so it's pretty hard to get them in this good of shape even for the amount of miles. The guy who traded it in always did his maintenance with us and took really good care of it also, so I don't think it's too bad of a price and I haven't seen a DMAX die yet!

You can knock about $5,000 off the price of a burnt orange truck here in Oklahoma!

That doesn't sound bad to me, the color must have been a special order I dough there are more than a handful.

Re: How rare of a color?
I imagine you are talking about sunset orange metallic? If so, I am fairly certain it was one and done on the 2001 model year trucks, it was a factory color, I just don't think it was extemely popular, which led to GM discontinuing it on the trucks...the "rarity" of the color really does nothing for the value in this case. We are talking about a DD truck w/ 165k miles, not a 1968 Camaro that is all original, you know? It's only worth more if you decide you can't live without it, lol. I say look around and you could probably find a slightly better deal.

Re: How rare of a color?
IIRC the burnt orange color was mostly a fleet option color for people that purchaced several at a time. correct me if im wrong but i think thats what most of the orange ones were. but im sure someone could have gotten that color outside of a fleet purchace by special request or if there was an error on a fleet order.
Thanks 9chevy4

Re: How rare of a color?
Actually I think it's called Sunset Orange Metallic or Bronze something similar and I ended up buying it since they threw in a set of Eagle wheels with tires and a Bully Dog 4" turbo back exhaust. So basically ended up paying about $16,500 or so. I'm pretty happy with it so far.
