Re: 12v cummins
If you're going to turn up fuel delivery that much, it needs to be matched w/ a higher flow turbo to get all the power out of it & to keep EGT's down
Drive it like I stole it? Why slow down?

Wow, are you sure about those numbers? I have never seen a pick up truck that had 4 Times more torque than horsepower. It's usually about a 2:1. 4:1 is pretty much unheard of. ![]()

Not really.... The stock Cummins ISX 385 Puts out 385 HP and 1450 to 1550 lbs. of torque respectively. Depending on the configuration in the truck. I would not believe it until I saw it a few times on the dyno. Pretty amazing... Not on the ISX but on the ISB in pick ups.

The ISX is not available in pickups. It is not uncommon to see almost 5:1 numbers out of a Cummins. I have seen it on the dyno a few times. The 12 valve is known for making gobs of power. And doing it more easily than a 24 valver (like the one I had). I should have used a better example. I apologize for that. Here is a 1996 for sale with the dyno sheet. 248 HP and 1300 FT. LBS. of torque. http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/car/254733583.html

Re: 12v cummins
Wow, I know the legend of the 12Valve, but I don't realize there was such a huge gap in the torque to Hp ratio. That is a ton of torque. Still seems like a huge gap to me, (I have difficulty accepting things some time). Thanks for the info.

Re: 12v cummins
I think the Cummins 5.9 makes about two foot pounds of torque for every horsepower. Mine is close to that! The NV manuals and Dodge autos will not live with the kind of torque that is being reported in some of these posts.

Absolutely! That is an invaluable resource for Cummins owners. I have been a member there for a few years.
