D-Max Speed
Anyone know what the 0-60 and the 60-100 mph times are for a 06 Duramax diesel truck. Will a D-Max beat a Silverado SS? I am thinking of buying an 06 D-Max and want to know what to expect. Thanks for the replies.

Hmm, my dads 2500 hd ccsb 4x4 can hit 60 in llike 9 i think...never timed it with a watch. Im pretty sure it wont beat a silverado ss stock though. If u were to get one for just performance id get a 2500 hd rcsb with the allison and 4x4. but thats still a lot of truck to move man

Re: D-Max Speed
stock I doubt it...but things change very fast when you add even just a programmer...you could be looking at an additonal 50hp and 100ft of torque with just a few hundred dollars versus several thousand for a gasser...

Stock a CCSB will run the 1/4 in ~15.3 with a 120hp tuner ~14.

That is one of the reasons I would like to get one. Other reasons include towing, hauling heavy loads. It would be nice to have a work truck that could run 14s in the 1/4 mile. A race/work truck.

From what I remember, the 2500HD is not available with as a RCSB... the short/standard bed is only available with the larger cabs.

Re: D-Max Speed
Empty the SS would be faster but put a load behind both and see who is faster. We are not comparing apples to apples here. Both are awsome trucks in their own designed areas.

I traded a 93 ECLB Dooley 6.5 tubo in on my 06 3500 in my sig and the D-Max will run circles around the 6.5.

Re: D-Max Speed
Could someone please explain to me how these late model diesels are able to run so strong? I mean, with headers, exhaust, and a programmer on a 6.0 gas engine, you will be lucky to get 30 hp gain. I read about duramaxes gaining over 50 hp pretty easily, or even more. I just don't understand it. There is more energy in gasoline than diesel fuel, but why do the diesels seem to be edging out the gassers in performance these days?
Appreciate the info, I am a diesel newbie.;-)

Re: D-Max Speed
Actually Diesel has more energy than gasoline.

Typical diesel fuel has 138,700 BTU per gallon whereas typical gasoline has 124,800 BTU per gallon.

Re: D-Max Speed
A rcsb dmax would be cool but the drivetrain is probably about as long as the truck would be. I think that is part of the reason why they don't offer one, just too much for a little truck, and how practical is a rcsb for a work truck anyway? As far as I know they don't make a short bed dually. They just sometimes look like short beds because the fenders kind of split the difference in the extra length of the front of the bed and makes it look shorter.

Re: D-Max Speed
Go with the diesel - better performance potential, more capable towing AND better fuel economy.

Re: D-Max Speed
i have a durmax 2006 with the allison tran. 6 speed auto tran
i have added the bully dog and 4 in exhaust and a airaid air intake hit. It has surprised me the different it made in the truck. the bully dog has 3 setting and i usually run the bully dog on the first setting from stock which is economic. i have not ran my truck in extrem yet. I change the setting to performance and I am very pleased with it there. IF i need the extreme setting i have it if i need it.

Diesel engines do not have an air/fuel ratio to worry about. Basically, you keep adding fuel until the exhaust gas temperature get hot enought to melt a piston, then you reduce fueling. My Dodge only makes around 350 crank horsepower, but, it also makes about 850 foot pounds of torque at the crank too!

Boost? My wastgate is not working properly and my turbo will wrap my boost gauge past 35 pounds to an internal stop at about 38 pounds with authority.I probably have around 44 pounds of pressure in the intake manifold.

When I have a trailer on the back and I'm grossing around 10K, I can accellarate up hills on the interestate. That's in O/D with the convertor locked at 1700-1800 RPM.
