good deal?
Hi, new to site, I think it`s great. I am looking at an 06 CCSB 2500HD 4wd,Duramax,LT3 with a roof, expandable towing mirrors, and roof lights. It`s my buddy`s truck, it also has about 3-4K in add ons. The exhaust is done, duals, Line ex, soft bed cover, tint, billet grille insert, etc. The truck has 43K on it, and is always serviced by an ex GM tech. He wants 28k for it, sounds like a good deal to me, what do you guys think. It`s Greystone with charcoal leather if it matters. thanks

Re: good deal?
I wouldn't sell mine for 28K, so it sounds like an awesome deal to me!

Re: good deal?
Doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. Of the $3K-$4K in add-ons, how much of that's performance stuff? Check the quality of the trans fluid (assuming auto). What's his reason for selling it? Assuming there are no problems lurking around waiting to bite the new owner in @$$ it seems like a good deal to me

Re: good deal?
The perf add ons are limited to a cold air intake, and the cat back duals. He just had the 30K svc done at the dealer. He never keeps trucks over 60K, and wants to get a new LBZ(this one is an early 06 w/the LLY), before the new body style comes out because he thinks it`s ugly. He has a 5th wheel that is towed occasionally, and it plowed last winter. I drove it on Sat, and thought it rode rough compared to the 04 2500 XCSB that I used to have, extra weight in the front end from the diesel??? Thanks for the responses, please let me know what you guys think, I`ve never had a diesel before, but really like the Allison trans, seems like a bullet proof combo. He also had the egr, and rear diff housing replaced under warr recently.

Re: good deal?
Yeah, a diesel weighs alot more than a gas engine. If it's been well maintained, and not abused from programmers and a heavy right foot, then it's a good deal. If he's not selling it to dump a bad lemon, then go for it. One thing I would reccomend right off the bat, upgrade the stock junk shocks to Bilsteins, make a huge difference.

Re: good deal?
He`s not trying to dump it, he just offered it to me for what the dealer offered him in trade $. His problem now is that he can`t find the same truck anywhere, and either will need to change color choice or buy a GMC. Does anyone know of any in the North East?, 07 2500HD, LT3 w/roof, tow mirrors and running lights, Greystone/charcoal leather. Now I just need to sell my 97, and find some more $$.

Re: good deal?
sounds like a heck of a deal, that truck in my area would sell at a dealer for probably 30-32K i would think. i would jump on it if i were you. the only thing that seems weird to me is why your buddy would want to get rid of it after only a couple years to get the exact same truck thats just a little newer? i mean the diesels are made to last several hundred thousand miles so why lose all that money in depreciation every couple years, doesnt make sense to me but i guess some people dont mind, they just want to be driving something new.

Re: good deal?
If he buys a new one he gets a truck with 45K less miles, and the 5yr/100K warr on the drivetrain. He really doesn`t like the nbs, so the newer, the better, the longer life he can get before replacement. It`s not like he`s ever going to go over 100k on a truck anyway.

Re: good deal?
I guess if you can afford to buy a new truck every 2 years then have at it... With the money you lose buying new vehicles to keep yourself in a warranty you could easily cover the cost of repairs yourself, but then again some people will spend a couple thousand to get +1 MPG and never keep the truck long enough for those upgrades to pay for themselves

Re: good deal?
Yeah he is a little strange, takes really good care of his stuff though. I`m not quite sold on it yet, first i need to sell my 97 XCSB, and it rode really rough, I`m thinking I might want an X-Cab instead.

Re: good deal?
Rough ride is kind of an odd complaint... What size wheels/tires are on it? Torsion bars cranked up?

Re: good deal?
the bars are cranked to level it, 265`s Goodyear silent armors. He had the tires at 70 r/55 front, I knocked em down to 40 all around, rode better but still really feel the bumps in the rear. Of course I`m basing this on my 04 2500HD w/a 6.0, no crank, 35 psi in BFG AT`s. My old truck was an X-Cab, not a Crew like this one, he even said at one point mine rode much better than his.

Re: good deal?
I'd relieve the torsion bars a bit, that can affect the ride a ton & you should be able to clear 265's without that if the ride's more important to you than the stance. 55/70 is WAY too high for an unloaded truck I'd just stick with ~35psi all the way around (adjust for load). My guess is they've a higher load rating than your old BFG's (tire of choice IMHO) so they'll have a stiffer sidewall & a bit rougher ride regardless.

What do you mean by "LT3 w/roof"?

Re: good deal?
The truck has the LT3 option package and a sunroof, hence the LT3 w/roof. He decided he wanted to keep the truck, for now, he wants to see and drive an 08 2500. I ended up buying an 03 CCSB w/an 8.1L, because I like the Allison trans, and like to buy gas. I guess we can close this thread...for now.
