How long do these things last??
I am inching ever so closer to buying my buddies D-max, So I guess my question is about longevity. With mild upgrades and proper maint., will the eng, and trans go 200-300K? I don`t want to look for another truck for a long time.

If well kept, The engine will outlast the truck. Tranny maybe also. I've replaced axles and wheel bearings and u-joints on these trucks more then anything and a few I work on are 250,xxx to 255,xxx miles. And they are stock trucks all around. Fleet vehicles put on a lot of miles, and shows that duramax a good engine.

A guy on DP has a 2004 LLY and he had a shade over 300,000 on it and dropped oil pressure and gave up a wrist pin from what I understand. He was not very easy on it either as he was a beta tester for many products. I could see one lasting 400,000 if taken care of.

All things being equal it should outlast a gas-powered counterpart
Drive it like I stole it? Why slow down?

Yeah, he ran that truck real hard! I was really surprised it lasted as long as it did. Not because it shouldn't, but because of the posts I read of all the things he did with it.

These are great trucks. I expect mine to last forever!
