SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
I want to do a swap in my 75 k20 truck. I wanted to know if I bought one of these engine, and put a turbo on it, would it be reliable and put out more power than my almost stock 350? Will my th350 bolt up to an 85 6.2L off of a 2wd burban? Please tell me everything you know about these engines....good or bad?
Thanks

I guess I'll be the dick that tells you to search through these forums, the forums at the diesel place, as well as other GM truck forums. There is a wealth of information that has already been posted about these engines.
Personally, I think you are better off with a Cummins swap, but you'll have to do the research and decide which is best for your intended application.

You're alot better off with a TBI 350 than those old diesel setups. back then, gas engines had more to them than the diesels. not so much today... because of the rise of the turbo diesel. but for that truck, i'd stay with the 350. If you want more grunt, get a 383.

Re: SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
I am going to go with a 6.5TD instead of the old technology. I think a 6.5TD will get the job well done. Thanks for all the help. The only reason I want to dump my 350 is A) it is old and sort of smokes B)It is gutless and I can hardly spin a tire (granted it is a 35" tire) and C) It is getting worn out and I could put it into an s-10 and have fun with it. Thanks

Re: SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
How many miles did you put on your 350? Also... as for the gutless part... Your true duals might've been the culprit. They pretty well ruin your backpressure, and you DO need some of that for good torque.

Re: SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
Get the 6.5L probably cost the same as a 6.2 in the long run. I never did like the 350 tbi unless it had a cam and some heads like edelbrock on it.

Re: SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
I have maybe 15,000 after rebuild like 20 years ago....it just sits around. I never drive it. Not that much anyway. I put 25 miles on it during summer. I need the duals, I have a high duration cam. I can burn out. Really, it is just old. The engine is old, the parts are old, it will sometimes smoke. It also still has the stock exhaust manifolds. I might as well buy some new headers. Just curious, what kind of mpg should I be getting only driving like 4 miles a day. I live about 2 miles away from my school. Thanks

Re: SOMEONE please tell me about the 6.2L!!!!!!
My brother told my like 6 or 8. I am not sure if I believe him though. He said he put like $20 on monday morning (2 years ago)
$20/$2.50 = 8 gallons. 4 miles a day x 5 = 20 miles. 20 miles/8 gallons = 2.5mpg....I doubt that.
