Amsoil Question?
I talked my Grandfather into running Amsoil in his 2002 2500 Duramax with 38K. I'm getting ready to order it and I'm not sure if I should get the-

15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil
10W-30/SAE 30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil
5W-40 Premium API CJ-4 Diesel Oil

What do you run?
2007 Z71 Silverado Crew Cab Blue Granite Matallic
2.5" Leveling kit, Chevy Tanoue cover
AMSOIL DEALER

I run the 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil. I have run it for a while now.

I ran 15W-40 all winter last year no trouble. Although I have a heated garage which helps.
Duramax badger truck pullers association.
Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

X3 But IMO its over rated I would use Chevron Delo 400.

15w-40 is great for temps over 0.
if he lives where it gets below 0 quite often then you could run the 5-30 hdd. it provides the same protection as the 15-40 just better in the cold. i ran it last winter and loved it when it was cold out. started great

Since you live in Michigan, go with the 5w-40. It will turn over much easier when the temps drop. I run 5w-40 year round, but not Amsoil. Since I travel a lot, I use Mobil 1 because its much easier to find on the road.
