Re: engine swap
do a search its been talked about before and theres a book you can buy that shows how these guys droped a 6.6 into a obs i think z71
though off the top of my head im pretty sure the mounts dont match and some one talked about the frames not being able to handle dmax power w/o being boxed
ive always dreamed of a dmax obs myself but its alot of work

Re: engine swap
Somewhere on thedieselpage.com. I was reading on things to do on the 6.5L that made the same horsepower as a duramax 6.6. Now I can't find it. But it was putting a different turbo on and a optional intercooler. There was also a book on it you could order. It had that parts list and company name for each part. On a road test it was pretty fast towing a 10,000 trailer. It beat the duramax in the towing speed test. Which surprised me. Mileage was about the same with the duramax getting 1 mpg better. Makes me want to find a old diesel 6.5 and try that setup out. Or put a 6.5 in a half ton. Might make a good sled puller.

Re: engine swap
OBS trucks did come with 6.5's in them so swapping one in shouldnt be that hard, i know its been done before, dieselplace.com is going to be the best place to find out the info on how to.

also, next months issue of diesel power is supposed to have an article on how to hop up the 6.5 to make it run in the 300HP range like a duramax so youll prolly want to keep your eye out for that.

03 GMC 2500 HD crew duramax, 6" full traction lift. 37/13.5/20 Toyo Open Country MT's, ATS E-Power tuner, AEM intake, Stage 3 allison
452 RWHP/755 TQ verified on superflo dyno, 7/19/08 (ATS level 10) and thanks to Chuggs for the sig!
