found a $10000 02 dmax!!?

so i found one on craigslist the guy says it runs and drives but has a problem with the fuel system. I dont really know anything about dmax's so im wondering what kind of fuel problem could make some one sell a dmax for 10000?
i emailed him asking him for more details so ill post em when he replies
any help figuring this out would be great

Could be bad pump, could be injectors. If it's the injectors. Then the warranty should cover that for free.

If it doesnt have more than 200,000 miles on it, then yes it will be covered. If not for the injectors to be replaced including labor at the dealer is anywhere from 3800 to 4500 bucks.

prolly bad injectors, the guy might not even know that the warrenty goes to 200k. if its over 200k then its gonna cost some money to get them replaced. id look at the truck at least cause thats pretty cheap for a dmax, even if it costs some more to get her running right it might still be worth it. you might want to check on www.dieselplace.com and see if there are any of the vendors in your area, then maybe you can take it to one of them and get it fixed, id bet they would be a lot cheaper than a dealer.

any update on whats wrong with the fuel system?

my guess would be injectors. not too often the injector pump goes out. guy probably doesnt know whats going on! score for you!

On dieselplace there are some techs on there who can run the VIN to see what Maint./Warranty work has been done I would have someone run one. It could be blackballed at the dealerships because of mods and cant be fixed under warranty.

I would email the guy back and say give ya 9000 for it being it runs bad lol. Then take her in and get new injectors for free lol. I bet theres alot of people out there that don't know their injectors are covered. Well atleast the older duramax.

this is true, if they dont agree to let you come see it, be warned... dont buy it!!!!

THINGS TO LOOK FOR:

1)usually they will stop talking to you all together if you tell them you want to come pick it up or see it beforehand

2)95% of the time, you'll see them say they will pay for the shipping.

3)they have ridiculous low prices!! always be weary if they price is crazy low.. refer back to 1)

Just a heads up, the injectors will only be covered under warrantee if they meet certain requirements; leaking, dont pass the tech 2 self test etc. They can be bad, cause cylinder damage, and still not be covered under that warrantee/recall GM has out.

You will have to let us know if this is another scammer. Just ask a simple "owner" question on it. Better yet, just get a number or address. I got one yesterday for a truck in Maine and the # was for GA. The address was also a PO box. I wrote him a nice "jump off a cliff and do the world a favor" email. Just want to meet one of them someday. Well, maybe not cause I would be looking at concrete walls for being the good guy.

Haha had ur heart going. Send that guy like 5 emails a day he's gotta answer back unless he's a prankster. I have to say. I haven't found any duramax's for that price yet. If I did it would be my veggie diesel project.

felk is there another way to contact him like a phone number or anything? theres a chance he never saw your emails, its happened to me a few times where ill send somebody an email for something they have posted on craigslist but for some reason it gets caught up in their emails spam filter, probably cause my emails an unknown address to them so if they dont ever look at their spam folder they never see the email. not sure if thats why the guy hasnt gotten back to you but you might try sending him another email. id think the truck might be gone by now though, i cant see a $10k dmax sitting around for long.

yeah id love to but the post expired and he hasnt put up a new one. i sent another email just in case he just didnt see the first ones so hopefully hell get it. and yeah id emagine a 10k dmax would go pretty fast.
