What do you think?
I ran across a 2003 silverado 2500 hd. It has the Duramax and the allison tranny it. They guy wants 18,000 for it. It does need tires and he is going to take off the plow on it. He only plowed with it for a year. It has 80,000 miles on it. Its a single cab with an 8ft bed with rhino liner. It seems to be loaded pretty well, ps, pw, pl, towing mirrors, compass and temp mirror, and other bells and whistles. Body is in decent shape. The rear bumper has a dent in it along with the end of the bed, the part thats up against the bed. It also has an exhuast on it. The check engine light is on due to the bigger exhuast on it. I took it for a test drive and it seems to handle alright. I did notice a tick inside the cab when I was on the acclerator pretty hard. It sounded like an exhuast manifold leak because I had one on my 02 silverado. The power was alright, maybe just different then my 5.3 with the torque curve. Right now I have an 02 silverado ex cab. What do you guys think?

Doesn't sound bad I would have the codes checked to make sure he ain't BSing ya. I don't know about no tick from an exhuast manifold leak but if so it should be easy to find there should be soot around the leak. If ya do a search there are several threads with hints on what to look for when buying a used Dmax.

Re: What do you think?
I would check the gears for sure make sure the tranny works. From personal experience, plowing snow can really affect the transmission, transfer case, and sometimes u-joints. Your spinning and getting grip and spinning. forward to reverse. Thats harder on a tranny the towing a trailer behind. So make absolutely sure that it's still in good condition before making the plunge.

Re: What do you think?
Call BS on the engine codes due to bigger exhaust. Mine has had a 4 inch for almost 50 k now and no check engine light. I would thin you could find and ECSB for a little bit more that wasnt a plow truck
