In your case a new truck would put you money ahead of a swap because yes you would need a tranny, t-case, and new front and rear driveline parts aswell as suspension.

Not that I know whats involved in the swap, but your driveline would hold up to a mostly stock cummins.

These views expressed on this post are not my own, but rather randomly generated computer gibberish and in no way should be used to judge the author's IQ or mental health.

lol, who would swap in a 12v in to anything and leave it stock, tho?

I myself have thought about going with a 12valve in my truck, but that would require everything from the body down to be beefed (including the frame)

a '92-'97 ford f-series is probably would I was swap a 12valve in to before I would an '88-'98 truck.

Re: would you buy your truck over again?
i am in the process right now of putting a 12v cummins into my 88 cc dually. i am using a 94 cummins from the junk yard for $500. i am using a 4l80e that was behind a 93 6.5. the tranny is being beefed up by ati, the power glide people, cause my buddy works there. i am also using their tranny controller. i bought the adapter plate and flexplate and mounts from auto world.
i am installing a bag and 4 link setup from air ride technologies.
i bought an all new interior from lmc. btw, the door panels are complete crap. i wouldve been better off painting and re carpeting my stock ones.
its a big job, but itll be done...one day.
thedieselgarage. com and coloradok5.com are great site to get you started if you are interested in this swap.
I need a longer driveway.
