1997 3500 6.5 diesel crew cab
Hey there, I found a 1997 3500 crew cab 4wd single wheel with lift kit, and shell. 179000 miles. they are asking 9700.00

sounds a little high to me, but not really sure.

Also is there things to look for in particular?

what kind of mileage could I expect if driven conservatively?

Any info both pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone

I don't know, with that many miles and lift kit and all seems high priced. You need to keep a close eye on the front of that truck. There maybe play or worn out balljoints. Mileage isn't going to be the greatest with a lift kit and all that wind drag. So it's not going to be fuel economical. Maybe if your lucky 12 mpg. Guess it depends too what tires and wheels it has. Heavy wheels can also lower fuel mileage. Who knows what gears are in it 4.10, 4.56. I don't see good fuel mileage in that one. For that price might as pay 3,000 more and get a duramax.

I really like the ol body style chevy though. how much would it run to swap in a duramax or cummins, etc, not including labor?

Could I probably find something similar cheaper? Really like the idea of the extra room of the crew cab. Also found a 1996 (conversion centurion) 1/2 ton crew cab Z71 one owner with 97000 miles for 8000(listed price).

price does seem high, the lift kit and aftermarket stuff shouldnt raise the price unless you want to pay extra for that stuff. a lot of times lift kits lower the value so maybe you could use that as a barganing point. lifted OBS crews are sick looking though, hardly ever see them, especially single wheel, id love to have one but that 6.5 just isnt enough motor for me.

got any pics of it?

9700 is about right if it is immaculate...and that's a big if.

I think you can get a better truck for a better price. Besides if you want a lift kit thats pretty easy to do on the obs. Typical hand tools is pretty much it, little swearing and hammering.
