LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Hello I just upgraded to a 07 classic 2500hd with the LBZ. Now it is time to do some upgrades. The first thing I will do is modify the air box. Next I want to delete the CAT and put a good muffler on the stock exhaust. After all that it’s time for a programmer. Well now for the questions, I know that the straight pipe (deleting the cat) will make my check engine light come on. I do not want to have to look at it, so is there a programmer that will change my ECM so it does not throw codes? Also I want to block the EGR because I do not want that sooty crap going through my intake. Can a programmer help with the codes for the EGR block off also? The reason I would like a programmer is because I would like to go back to stock when needed (warranty) and not have to change a lot of stuff. Yeas I know that taking the cat off can affect my warty. That’s why I well modify the CAT( put a pipe through it) so it looks like it is still there and working, so if there is an plug and play programmer out there that can do this like me know.

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
PPE can for sure quadzilla should too not sure about others. You should buy a block off plate boost can push the EGR open even if you disable it. I would just leave the cat and replace the muffler with a piece of pipe. It doesn't get much louder and the cat isn't a big restriction.

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Mine is an 05 and i added a 4" MBRP exhaust with no kitty, swiss cheese airbox and have the programmer set on the 70hp tune and haven't had the check engine light come on yet. Not saying that it won't but ive been lucky so far. Can't wait to put the kodiak MP on next weekend!

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Shouldn't have any codes with the cat delete and egr blocker. I also don't see how deleting the cat is going to affect your warranty? Nix the muffler all together. It's not really that loud

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
EGR block is excellent idea. I added the "fingerstick" as this was first mod back in 07 when I bought my LBZ. No CEL ever on that item. Also run Trubo back with an AFE muffler..love the turbo whistle.
If you really plan on keeping your vehicle a long while - think about 2ndary oil and fuel filtration. Two excellent longetivity measures you will want to research.
Cheers,
stk

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
1. Straight piped exhaust will not throw a code.
2. EGR block off won't throw a code either.
3. Any half way decent programmer will clear most of the codes that you could throw.

A blocker plate will throw codes if you don't have tuning to compensate for it..

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Unless you have a Cal emissions truck you shouldn't throw any codes.

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Just watch for emissions comming to a state near you. I know that AZ has diesel emissions and Cali is getting them along with others. They check for a CAT, there was an articl in Diesel World this month about it and how to pass the test.

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
Who has blown a turbo with a fingerstick unless they where stacking tunes? Thats why ya should have gauges.

Re: LBZ CAT delete and EGR block off
What you don't think you can blow a turbo with EFI? If you know what your doing you won't blow a turbo with a finger stick ETC.

o i know that you could pop a charger with efi as well but chances are, unless ur building ur own tunes, the person that tunes it wont put too big of a boost map in it that will blow the charger. you stand a higher chance of popin one with a fingerstick and a handheld over just efi live.

Oh there are some bad tuner for EFI out there too. I have seen a popular tuners tunes and I wouldn't run them.

A 'finger stick' and 'boost stick' are not the same thing
