4Bt in an 85 1/2 ton.
I already posted this in the classic section before I noticed the diesel section. After looking at the other 4Bt swap, I decided to post here also. Mods, remove one if it needs it.
This is my second 4Bt swap. I had this engine in my son's jeep and he rolled it so we decided to put it in a pickup and he loves this body style.
Here is a photo of the truck and the 4Bt and the jeep it used to be in.

That was our jeep in Diesel Power. We spent two years building it and it took my son, Garrett about 2 seconds to total it, but now we have another project and I think he'll like the truck better. It will be a much better daily driver with A/C and overdrive. We haven't started the Chevy swap yet, but if you want to see the jeep build thread, here is the link.

We are going to use a 4L80E with a stand alone controller. I don't believe the 700R4 that's in the truck would ever hold up to the torque.

Yeah, it's a 14mm pump turned up to just shy of runaway with a Denny T stage II fuel pin, no throttle stop, and a3200rpm spring. We have an HY35 with a 9cm exhaust housing, cut down 5.9 exhaust manifold and 100hp injectors. It has heavier valve springs and a few other mods. It was mean in the Jeep and we are anxious to see what the truck performs like with it.

Awesome! Is it a rocken-tech 14mm pump or KTA pump??
And that DennyT pin is the $hit ain't it??? we have one in all our 1st gen dodges w/the VE !!! best 100 bucks spent, and the gov. spring is so awesome too.

Why 4bt and not the old diesels that come in Chevy trucks?

Two reasons. Horsepower and Torque.

Stock, they are 105hp and 275 tq. This is way below their potential (just like the 5.9's)
Before we added the 100hp injectors(we had 50hp injectors at the time) and took out the throttle stop, ours (in the jeep, with a Th400, 14 bolt rear, and 40" tires) made 207hp and 475lb/ft of torque to the rear wheels. The hp was @ 2450rpm and the torque was at 1900rpms. After the injectors and additional timing tweeking, we were over 40lbs of boost with the new injectors. My guess is we are around 280hp at the flywheel now.
And the compound turbo set is in the works.

The old 6.2L is more for swapping out than it is for swapping in. It's a bit of a slug, and lacks any major potential.

Re: 4Bt in an 85 K1500
They wouldn't happen to be POD injectors are they?? I think they're rated at 100hp or something... 4x.014 tip size.
And you didn't answer my question about the 14mm pump head/rotor? whos it made by ?

The POD's are 50hp injectors. We had those first. The 100hp injectors were custom made by Tennesee Diesel Conversions.
I don't know which 14mm head I have. I took the injector pump off when it started leaking and took it to be rebuilt. Accurate Diesel Injection in Orlando did the rebuild. He called me and told me he had a 14mm head and did I want it and I said yes.
