Very loud engine noise

My 93 6.5L turbo diesel sierra is making a very very loud chattering noise that sounds like the injectors are bad (from what im told). Im also making more exhaust smoke and have a loss of power. Can anyone tell me what possible problems could be?

yea you prob got cracked or broken injector tips. the black smoke is a good indication of that because it can just dump fuel to that cylinder or cylinders. if thats the case which it sounds like it is hopefully just cracked not broken cuz it could score the cylinder walls if it broke off or go out the exhaust and into the turbo.

How loud of a "chattering noise"? Does it only do when it is cold? only warm? All the time?

More smoke and loss of power is normally due to a failing wastegate system. But the only way your wastegate system would fail is if the spring failed, which doesn't happen that often.

How many miles do you have on the injectors? If you think it is injectors causing your issue you can either take them out and get them tested, or just replace them as they don't cost too much if you have a little extra money to spend.
