08 Duramax Straight Pipe

A buddy of mine has an 08 that he want's to straight pipe. I've heard from a few people that they computer on the truck won't let it run if that filter isn't in? It will idle but not actually run? I'm just trying to help him out. What's the deal with the NNBS Duramax's and being straight piped? And if it helps he want's a TBE with a stack.

Re: 08 Duramax Straight Pipe

Get a tune to get rid of the codes with the dpf delete and you are good to go! I have 2 '08's and an '09 sitting within 75 feet of me as I type and none of them have any of the stock emissions on them.

Re: 08 Duramax Straight Pipe

ive always heard of the dpf delete, tune and then a 5 inch straight back on diesels. but im far from an expert on diesels. if hes getting a stack, i think he should look into the single 6-8 inch round flat black stack that has the 45'd cut angle and as tall as the cab of the rig. need more guys to answer though like i said i am not the best person to answer your question. i just go by what ive heard and seen.

Re: 08 Duramax Straight Pipe

Yeah I googled it and they said exactly what Loud said, and that's probably what he'll get, he's going for the blacked out look. So that will be nice.

Re: 08 Duramax Straight Pipe

Why do people like single stacks so much? I think they're so ugly since they're so asymmetrical.

Re: 08 Duramax Straight Pipe

I like the look of a single stack over duals on pickups. I also don't really care for stacks on trucks that are stock height.

On a nice, clean lifted truck, I don't really mind dual stacks, but single stacks just look retarded.

Also, stacks on stock height trucks are FUGLY.

I look at it the same way, but with a single stack you can blow the thickest, densest, blackest, tallest cloud of raw diesel smoke!!!
