Re: Started suicide door.
Donnie, This is the first time I came across this thread. This is going to be an awesome mod and It looks like you guys are doing a great job.
2 things. 1. While the door is apart, dynamat the exterior door skin.It will add some weight, but it'll be worth it. 2. I dont want to hear you guys complaining at Carlisle that you don't have any forks.... LOL Keep up the good work. |

Re: Started suicide door.
is that all it took to solve the sagging problem when it opens? The latch on the door is pretty easy but the striker on the cab can be a pain. Looks good...its alot of work!

Thanks Jimmy! ![]() We really didnt have a sagging problem...Once we welded on this piece, ![]() To connect the two boxes, It tightened everything up! We havent tried it with the window in yet, So hopefully it wont sag when it's all back together..These hinges are pretty good, And youre able to adjust them to get everything lined up! |

Re: Started suicide door.
Not much has been going on, Ive been sick for the past 2wks, And with doc working he's new hours at work, The work on the door has been slow!
Not much of a update, But I got the hood, Fender, And Grill off to start working on the latch and the striker, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sure was a lot of work to get all that chit off! Hopefully this will motivate Doc to get he's azz over here, And get to work! Bro! But, Let's get to work! ![]() Last edited by tahoen : 07-08-2007 at 12:58 PM. |

Re: Started suicide door.
I don't know where the hell I have been this whole time, but I haven't seen this on FSC yet.
The best part about suicide doors is that when you finally have one done the way you like it, you just have to bite your teeth and do the other side even though you want no part of it. Do you have a latch/striker kit? I got bear claws and the install kit from www.alteredimagecustom.com Its a great kit, I love the bearclaws, but I have heard alot of trash talk about them. The thing is, they aren't as forgiving as stock latches, which is a great thing when it comes to suicide doors. If you get your doors sag free, and they open and shut consistantly, you will love bear claws. Let me know if you want pics of my setup when the time comes to hook the OEM handles back up again. I make mine work with a bicycle brake cable, and a few cable guides off of an old bmx frame I had. And i can't believe that people who have never done suicide doors talk trash on any form of suicide hinges other than the kit that suicidedoors.com sells. I used the autoloc kit, and I loved it. The pins were thicker than the SD one, it had self lubing brass bushings as well. At 1/4 the price it was a no brainer. Those hinges should look neat when they are finished and painted. ...im still waiting for the torsion bars and CV's to go bye bye and get some bags in the front of that thing!
