Re: HID upgrade...the right way!

Awesome way of doing that, I may do that myself. I have a brand new set of Halo's, I just don't know if I wanna cut into them, reason is they were bought like 3 wks ago.

Re: HID upgrade...the right way!

I got a Charger that has regular halogen headlights and I like the HID lights but don't want a cheap kit off of Ebay that blinds everyone on the road. On the dodge website this is a $700 option for the R/T models and up. My question is can I just install the factory HID headlights on a SXT model.

Re: HID upgrade...the right way!

Doesn't matter if it is a cheap HID kit or not, if the headlight housings were not designed for HIDs you will get light scatter. Some OEM halogen headlight housings are pretty good though, can't comment on the Charger's though.

I am take a guess and say your Charger has HID reflector housing headlights, it just doesn't have a HID kit installed. If this is the case, your headlights should have a shield over the halogen bulb. These were designed to use a HID kit using a D1R or D2R, this is what the factory option would be.

These kits are hard to find as most place sell HID kits using a D1S or D2S bulb, these are designed for projector housings. You can install one of these and still get a nice cut-off that won't be blinding everyone.
