Windshield cracked question...
I apparently picked up a small stone chip, that promptly turned in to a crack, that is about in the middle of my driver side windshield wiper, and it went straight vertical, about 10 inches. I have noticed in the last few days that everyday it grows, towards the left of the truck. It won't be long and this will be in my line of site, which, to my understanding, will make it required that I replace it. I am planning on doing so out of my own pocket, but since I drive 100 miles round trip, and that this could easily happen again, that I would probably hold off on it until spring if I can. Is there anyway I can "force" it to crack in a different direction, so that it does not go into my line of sight?

Re: Windshield cracked question...
Anyone think that I can perhaps use a screwdriver, lightly tapped w/ a hammer, just below the leading edge of the crack, to send it down, so it does not stream across my line of sight?

I know this sounds redneckish, but I really don't want to spend $200 just for this to happen again in a month or two, ya know?

I'd rather replace the windshield after a lift kit, so I'll have a lesser probability then!

Re: Windshield cracked question...
not sure about directing a crack.

IMO i would roll it till i got pulled over for it since you plan on replacing it soon anyway. most likely you will get a fix it ticket if you do get pulled over.

but if it is bad and really will mess with you ability to view the road i would try to fix it now the right way

Re: Windshield cracked question...
It isn't bad now, it just grows a little bit each day, furthering to the driverside and up, so I suspsect in a day or two it may be in my line of site...dunno...see what happens.
