The Official Silverado SS bumper information thread!!

Install questions? Here's some answers!

Take some time to toss the bumper cover on and get familiar with the mounting points and mock up the brackets.

Here are some part numbers for the Silverado SS body pieces, however, I have not verified all of them.

The list price for the front cover, 2 airducts and the 4 brackets is over $800, but the dealer should provide a discount off of that, or check GMpartsdirect.com. The paint was around $200, this will vary by location.

89044506 - headlight to bumper filler panel
89044507 - headlight to bumper filler panel
15197889 - License Plate Bracket
15178219 - Crossbar and Grille
12335659 - Front Bumper (unpainted)
12335765 - Front Bumper Grille
12335766 - Passenger Air Duct (silver in color)
12335767 - Driver Air Duct (silver in color)
15124949 - Front Bumper Bracket (left or right side)
15182636 - Front Bumper Bracket (not sure which side)
15182637 - Front Bumper Bracket (not sure which side)
10360423 - Driver Front Door Molding
10360428 - Passenger Front Door Molding
10360434 - Driver Rear Door Molding
10360441 - Passenger Rear Door Molding
15178226 - Passenger Fender Molding (Behind Front Wheel)
15178227 - Driver Fender Molding (Behind Front Wheel)
88980000 - Passenger Rocker Panel (Under Door Cladding)
88980186 - Driver Rocker Panel (Under Door Cladding)
15178234 - Passenger Rear Fender Molding (Before Rear Wheel)
15178235 - Driver Rear Fender Molding (After Rear Door)
15197858 - Passenger Rear Panel (After Rear Door)
15197857 - Driver Rear Panel (Before Rear Wheel)
88944467 - (Not sure which side) Silverado SS Panel (Behind Rear Wheel)
88980189 - (Not sure which side) Silverado SS Panel (Behind Rear Wheel)
15178282 - Lower Tailgate Molding
15197873 - Tailgate Spoiler
15178667 - Decal on Tailgate
15178666 - SS Letters
88944059 - Rear Bumper Cover

Here are a couple of pics of the side brackets which come in two pieces(15124949). The thin red line indicates the outline and location of the bracket. These are universal for either side.

There is a strip of double sided tape on the top for securing it to the factory bumper. There are also brackets built into the front cover which mount to the fog light location on the factory bumper. The lower grille opening has fasteners built into the cover that attach where the factory valance mounted to the metal bumper. I do not have pics of the lower support brackets(15182636 and 15182637), but here's a quick MS paint drawing. The black indicates the bracket which bolts from the lower bumper(2 bolts) to the top of the airduct(1 bolt, existing). The white lines show the bolt locations. I used 'elevator bolts' from Lowes to secure the exposed mounting points on the brackets.

Yes, you can mount your OEM fog lights behind the air ducts. It will require that you fabricate up a new bracket, which can be easily done with materials from the hardware store. I used flat stock and just extended the existing bracket back. Here's a couple of pics of the fogs shining through.

For you GMC guys, Street Scenes makes an aftermarket SS cover.

If anybody would like to add anything, please do.

Re: The Official Silverado SS bumper information thread!!

I don't imagine the front bumper cover would fit onto my GMC would it?

How about the rear bumper though? Has anyone done that mod, will it just bolt on and fit or will it require fabrication?

Re: The Official Silverado SS bumper information thread!!

The OEM front SS bumper cover will not fit the GMC bumper...

I think the rear bumper is the same though, GMC or Chevy.

However, Street Scenes does make an aftermarket SS front bumper cover to fit the GMC.

Re: The Official Silverado SS bumper information thread!!

****!!! That is SICK as HELL!!!!!!!! OMG! I am TOTALLY all about getting one of those! Those fogs through the grille holes look SWEET too.

I was thinking of redoing my exhaust, I got a Gibson kit cheap so I was gonna run it out to an SS style roll pan and try to do the SS Bumper thing, but that bumper cover for the GMC looks WAY cool.

Thanks Colby!

The front and rear bumper covers from GM are not painted. The only thing that comes painted to my knowledge are the grilles, which I just noticed are not listed above.

The rear cover doesn't look right without the cladding.

Here's birchSSclone's truck, he's the only one I know of that has the rear cover. He's got the cladding also I think, but just not installed yet.

Re: The Official Silverado SS bumper information thread!!

So to do just the front bumper cover and 2 air ducts it cost you roughly a grand? Seems kinda steep! Anybody see one with the air ducts painted black or any other color? Thought it might look good on non-black truck having them blacked
