Re: How too clear NNBS GMT900 07-08 Silverado Headlights

I was not worried about any smell when I tried mine. The plastic started to melt before the glue even flinched.

What temp did you have yours at iminaquagmire? Was the plastic touching any of the oven?

Looks like I have to do a little more siliconing, I went threw the power washer today and I have a few drops of water inside my driver side headlight.

did you do 2 layers?

I did one thin one....let that dry, then one good thick/wide layer smoothed out. Mine have been like this for a long time and no leaks/fogging whatsoever.

Okay..sucks but your gonna have to remove them and give them another layer smoothed/pressed in with your finger...bet you missed a spot somewhere.

Those are BOSS 330's...24x10 +30mm offset
The inside portion can be cutout and glued too, so painting isnt hard at all. You cant just tape it off because the chrome on the plastic is so thin the tape glue litterally removes the chrome.

Re: How too clear NNBS GMT900 07-08 Silverado Headlights

I know this is the ext forum and i am not trying to hijack the tread but I thot I would throw this out there as well since we were on the subject of carbon fiber.
I was also thinking about covering the wood grain accent pieces inside with some cardon fiber as well, anyone done this yet?

there you go, just double check which one you are clicking on, and then click view photos to see all the pieces it comes with, and then select a finish to look at what colors and sh*t you need.

Re: How too clear NNBS GMT900 07-08 Silverado Headlights

sweet i found these tips on how to paint the carbon fiber look.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4965907/tm.htm

http://www.instructables.com/id/Carb...e-carbon-fibe/

i may try to paint something flexible enough(any suggestions? construction paper?) to put inside the lense and see what it would look like. If I dont like it i can just leave them cleared.

Painting faux carbon fibre? Sounds like a real PITA with too many things that can go wrong.

Re: How too clear NNBS GMT900 07-08 Silverado Headlights

i do have a question.. the oven method on older trucks is used to heat up the glue .. so they just come apart, correct?

what about on the NNBS can i use a heat gun ( got a heat gun that has a low and high setting , i use it.. on high all the time for changing blades in my hockey sticks)

Re: How too clear NNBS GMT900 07-08 Silverado Headlights

Just finished mine using the above method. Worked well.

I would only change one thing, on the second light I used a dremel with a smaller cutting wheel, it seemed more controllable and it made the cut a little cleaner. YMMV.
