whay year truck would help. is it the shelf one, or is kind of wrapped over the top of the tail gate. if its a nbs and its wrapped over the top, then all it is, is 2 sided tape, if its the shelf, then its torx screws. these are the 2 factory options. If its something else, who would know really.

Re: TailGate Cap
the one with the screws is pretty obvious so it's most likely doble sided tape holding it on.

Re: TailGate Cap
My '04 has the plant shelf. It has torque screws on the outside of the tailgate and double stick tape on the inside. The worst of two worlds combined. It's kind of beat up from my kids hauling small blocks and automatic transmissions; what the hell, it's a truck, not the Sistine Chapel.

to take the cap off, you need to take the torx screws out, then peel the cap off, and remove the 2 sided tape. next you would need to drill out the crush rivit nuts in all the holes where the cap screwed on, and fill the holes with bondo, and sand them off. for the relocation i have no idea, but thats just to loose the cap altogether.
