Re: smokin tail lights
There are a lot of threads on this topic in the exterior section. I have posted a couple myself.

This is the way I did mine:
1.Prep area with 300 grit sand paper
2.Cleaned off light, and I masked off reverse light so I can see when I back up.
3.Used adhesion promoter/clear primer duplicolor brand I believe
4.applied light coats of black from a distance to acheive the desired look.
5.applied duplicolor clear acrylic laquer.
6.after 48hrs I used a light rubbing compound and wax. They are holding up really well, and still look like I just did them yesterday.

Steps in order

1. Steel wool
2. All purpose cleaner
3. Thin light coats
4. Wait a few minutes in between coats
5. Wait 15 minutes and clear coat.

USE NITESHADES! Or just send them to me and I'll do it for 15 bucks haha.

Re: smokin tail lights
Have done several sets like this. Check my build threads for pics.
1. wetsand with 400
2. clean and wipe with tack cloth
3. mix black basecoat and activator
4. mix clearcoat and hardener
5. pour black into clear at about a 1:10 ratio and mix
6. spray as many coats as desired tint
7. Stand back and enjoy!
