I'm still keeping mine. Well, until I get a cowl hood. Oh the well, here's my rig just for giggles.

I think if you do alot of driving especially in the winter, they do their job. In Pa, they put alot of rock salt/ash down on the roads for skid protection, and wow, does it beat up a trucks paint. But if you don't, then loose it.

i drive a ton during the winter, and would never use one of those. New paint is easier to buy then your dignity back.

Yeah,.. $5-$700 bucks for a paint job rather than using one for a few months for $50 worth of protection. That makes sense.

Each to their own I guess.

lol im just being a jerk, they are ugly tho

are you using them just to keep all the sand that gets kicked up at the truck from damaging the paint?

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
It's all good brother.

When I was commuting to work, (75 miles round trip) My trucks always got tore up. The bug sheilds were the only thing that kept the front from being all chipped up. I agree, they are ugly but they do their job (most cases)

About once a year, I lost a windshield too.. but insurance always covered that.

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
I had a low profile one on my 2001 but it was so small that it was useless and did nothing, so I don't think I would get another one....

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
My last car was chipped to hell on the leading edge and I hate painting. My truck's got one and if I can find one that doesn't look like the old 80's style, my 87 will have one, too. Hell, I don't care what anyone thinks of it. I'm making the payments on it and not them.

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
all my driving is highway and before I painted my truck my hood was destroyed with chips when I get some money I will probably go with the cowl hood and no bug shield but I have noticed that I haven't got any new rock chips in my hood or windshield in the last month and my friends that help me redo the truck said that the cowl hoods take a beating on the highway and I had a 700 mile ride back home with fresh paint. I will say I like the look painted to match the truck thou.

I have never seen that before. Probably because I can barely see it on your truck even after you pointed it out.

The one on my old truck saved the windshield from rocks a time or two.
