Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
it's not so much that they are tacky...but leaves, mud, pinestraw (whatever basically) gets trapped in there and can/will rust your hood...i took the one off my old '83 as soon as i realized the damage it had done

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
I have one too. I mainly put mine on because previous owner apparently had a large bug sheild, and put big ugly square rubber bumpers on my hood, and I wanted to cover them up. I like the way it looks on my truck, and I just put on some of the window air deflectors, too.

If you like the bug sheild, keep it. Who cares what others think!

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
They really don't do much anyway. I had one for a year or so, removed it 6 years ago and my hood looks fine.

If anything, they look bad and cause the windshield washer solvent to have a mind of it's own on the highway

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
The first thing I did when I got my nissan was take off the bug deflector.

Although, my cousin has a blazer on large tires (think ~44"), with one of those ugly old style vertical ones on the front, with the words "Have you driven over a ford lately?" written on the front. Its pretty nifty, still ugly though.
Rest in Peace Jason Payne

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
I have one that I take on and off... I'll put it one when driving around the farm and in the back woods and take it off when in town. Although I feel it looks alright on my truck as it makes the front seem a bit taller.

Re: Are bug deflecotors tacky?
I have one on there now because the original hood's paint was flaking at the leading edge...someday I'll have a cowl hood and it's gone.

I left mine about 2 inches out from the front of the hood so nothing gets caught in there...doesn't look THAT bad..but I was confused...it's a Ventshade brand one and I had to screw it in...and that was the only way you could mount it and also have it flush/use the 3m tape that came on it

I'm used to it but I prefer it without, looks cleaner.

they will cause your hood to rust but if you have a mustache they do compliment it.

When I was little there was a guy around here that had a hooked up mid 80s C-10 shortbed with one of those vertical deflectors...it had "ABSOLUTELY PHUCKED" lettered across the front...
