I painted my steel rims over 2 years ago, and I haven't had any problems. They are on year around, so you shouldn't have a problem.

i thought steel rims didn't have a clearcoat over them though. granted, i've never painted aluminum clearcoated wheels, but i would think the paint wouldn't adhere the greatest. powdercoat would be best, but that gets a bit pricey just for winter wheels.

i sanded em a bit scuffed em up pretty good so we'll see ill keep ya posted been busy so i still got 2 more to do plus its been a bit cold round here so painting isnt east most likely finish them tomorrow let the paint dry for a few days clear em a few times and put em on in about a week or 2
