What is the difference between a chrome and a billet grille?

i'm looking for a billet grille for my truck and i came across an apc chrome grille that i liked. And i was wondering which kind of grille you guys like better, a polished or chrome plated billet grille. also is there any difference in quality? i was thinking the chrome one might wear out faster but i wasn't sure.

heres a link to the chrome grille i was thinking about buying

Billet grilles are aluminum. You can get them brushed or polished. Brushed has a dull look. Polished shines about like chrome. For the most part the chrome grilles would probably be easier to clean and keep clean. Bust out the window cleaner and wipe them off. A polished billet grille will require some polishing every so often just like polished aluminum wheels.

BUT, I wouldn't trust anything made by APC.

What he said. APC has become synonymous with poor quality parts.

Chrome will rust...
Billet will not...

Not sure how rust is where you live though.

Considering you're in Ohio, I'd recommend the aluminum grille just to avoid rusting issues from the road salt in the winter time.

Tahoe99LT (who's in PA) had this chrome grille rust over within 3 weeks after installing it. I'm not sure who the manufacturer was, but I don't think it was even in the winter time when it happened.
