Primers
Self Etching primer:

used for baremetal applications. can be used instead of epoxy. to be followed by a normal primer for blocking

Epoxy Primer/Epoxy Sealer:

used for going over baremetal. can be used instead of self-etching. if leaving alone for a while, an epoxy sealer like this one would be a good choice.

for any bodywork, do it over baremetal. DO NOT do it over primer or paint.

Blocking primers:

high build primer. thicker, requires a bigger tip on gun. 1.7 or bigger is best. great for filling scratches and minor imperfections. FAIR WARNING. SlickSand is some nasty stuff if you dont have a respirator.

Sealers:

for going over primered areas and/or complete panels during a color change process. locks down the primer and other paint and doesnt allow any bleed through of the colors or any "bulls eye" effects. creates a uniform color that aids in using less paint to achieve desired color. varies in colors from white to almost black. some can be tinted to a certain extent.
-perfect example here. imagine you have a white door that you are painting red. it will take more coats to cover white b/c the red will tend to turn pink.

Adhesion Promotors:

used on bare plastics to aid in topcoats sticking. if not used, you will run the risk of having your paint come off. (i have an example of this at the shop. I will get pics tomorrow and get them uploaded to this thread)
